Stems and Leaves
This species develops a branched bushy habit that can exceed 5 ft (1.5 m) in height. The stems are cylindrical, highly branched, and have an early greenish coloration that becomes grayish at the base with time. On these stems are arranged numerous fleshy leaves curved upward and with a size greater than 2.7” (7 cm) long. These leaves are arranged alternately on the stems, but very close together. Each leaf has a grayish-green coloration with darker and quite conspicuous longitudinal nerves.

The flowers are arranged in inflorescences in the capitulum that appear numerous at the apex of the stems; in this case, it is an inflorescence of inflorescences. All flowers are small, tubular, and have 5 small, triangular petals at the end with a bright yellow color. In all flowers, the bilobed, yellow stigma protrudes above the petals.
